7. Supplemental Recruitment Measures:
August, 2007 - Ongoing. Personnel: All Department Heads. CRN Communications offers an Internship Program designed to promote and foster the professional development of students exploring a career in radio broadcasting. Interns are assigned to work in various departments at the station including programming, marketing and promotions and sales. During this reporting period WDYT accepted four interns, one of which have been hired as full or part time employees. Three interns from a previous reporting period were hired as full time or part time employees. Department heads oversee an evaluation process, reporting directly to the Intern's institute of learning. All evaluations are reviewed with the intern to ensure that he/she understands his/her personal development to date, including areas of excellence and any areas that need to be enhanced to meet minimum industry standards. Interns are recruited from various schools in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill area.
August, 2007 - Ongoing. Personnel: All Department Heads. Managers receive materials (forms, booklets, articles, etc.) on an ongoing basis to educate managers on procedures to prevent claims and review policies and procedures consistent with equal employment opportunity and affirmative action.
November, 2007. Personnel: Traffic Manager, Sales Assistant and Business Manager. Comprehensive Traffic and automation software training is provided to enhance the traffic department's productivity and provide for a professional and consistent broadcast flow. Training also enhances management skills.
February, 2008 -Ongoing. Personnel: All Sales & Promotions Staff. CRN Communications provides all sales staff formal training. Training is comprised of RAB courses as well as proprietary courses designed to promote enhanced sales skills as well as management training.
April 2008. Personnel: On-Air Personality. Participated in a Career Transitioning Workshop held at St. Luke Catholic Church Family Life Center in Mint Hill, NC. The workshop included information on creating a professional resume and enhancing interview skills.
May, 2008 - Ongoing. Personnel: All Department Heads. Participate in online career fair promoting broadcast employment opportunities. Applicants can submit resumes, request more information and schedule interviews.
July 10, 2008. Personnel: All Department Heads. Hosted a job fair at the station's business office. Job Fair provided opportunity to discuss broadcast employment opportunities, take applications, review resumes and interview applicants.
